Box profile steel sheeting
Plastisol-coated steel fixed with bonded-washer screws into the purlins. The standard re-cover for workshops, hay barns and machinery stores.
Fibre cement sheet
Profile 3 or profile 6 cement sheet. Heavier than steel, quieter in rain, breathes better over livestock.
Anti-condensation lining
Steel over a warm stable drips. A membrane bonded to the sheet underside stops it raining indoors every cold morning.
Purlin and timber repairs
Rotten purlin ends under a gutter that has leaked for a decade, split rafters, failed sole plates. Renewed before any covering goes back.
GRP rooflight sheets
Old rooflights go brittle and yellow and eventually give way under a foot. Replaced in matching profile, never walked on meanwhile.
Valley and box gutters
Long ranges pour a lot of water into gutters nobody has cleared in years. Relined or replaced with proper outlets.
Asbestos cement sheet — what we will and will not do
Many farm and stable roofs here were sheeted in asbestos cement between the 1950s and the mid-1980s. If your building is that age and carries grey corrugated sheet, assume it contains asbestos until a survey says otherwise. Left alone and sound it endangers nobody. Drilled, cut, broken or walked through, it does.
Our position does not bend. We survey, and where the material is suspect we arrange sampling and laboratory analysis rather than guessing from the ground. We do not cut, drill, break, pressure-wash or walk on asbestos cement, and we do not remove it. Removal is done by a licensed asbestos contractor working under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, with the waste consigned and documented. Once the roof is clear and the paperwork is in hand, we come back and sheet it.

Working around a yard
We sheet in bays so a range is never open along its whole length, magnet-sweep for fixings each evening, and agree where the lorry and skip sit.
One thing worth saying about steel: it lasts thirty years or more, but the fixings fail long before the sheet does. Old roofs almost always leak at rusted screws and perished washers. If your sheets are sound, a re-fix with new bonded-washer screws buys a decade for a fraction of a re-cover, and we will say so.
