Why exposure does the damage
Wind does not push a roof off. It lifts it. Air accelerating over a ridge line drops in pressure across the top surface of the tiles while the loft below stays at ordinary pressure, and the difference tries to suck each tile upwards. The effect is worst at the edges — ridges, hips, verges and the two courses along the eaves — which is exactly where the damage always is.
